On this blog we will be writing about how studies, scientists, and just ordinary parents and people view the impact of TV on kids. Many different studies have different conclusions on the subject. Some prove that television rots children's brains, some link good grades to watching more TV, and some conclude that it is just a passtime, not harming or helping children in any way. Typically, parents are shown that television will hinder their children's learning abilities, but is this neceasirly true? We, Kellye and Lauren, are not quite old enough to have kids of our own, but we do have young cousins who live nearby. We see them quite often, and we see their favorite shows also. From Barney to Seseame Street to Blues Clues to Dora, we know there are a variety of children's shows that catch their attention. This brought us to our topic, are these shows hurting or helping our cousins learning abitilites? Are the commercials for children their age, or are they exposed to things that are inapropriate for their age? For the moment we are nuetral, believing that TV does not increase their learning abilities, but it does not hinder them either.
